On the weekend of September 26-27, an internal water polo tournament was held for young players aged 6-10 from the Sports Schools of the Vouliagmeni Nautical Club.
As part of their coaching education, the young athletes at the Vouliagmeni "nursery" gain a lot of motivation with the aim of learning the secrets of water polo, putting into practice what they learn in training, bonding as a team and enriching their experiences. The goal is to participate in tournaments each season with rival teams within and outside their home base, even outside Athens.
The current conditions, due to the restrictions imposed by the outbreak of the pandemic, do not allow us to "meet" competitively with other teams. However, the dynamics of the Vouliagmeni Nautical Club, both in terms of the number of children and the coaching background, make the internal tournaments full of challenges, interest and noble competition.
About 75 children were divided into 4 teams and the "Skarkharies", the "Smirnes", the "Piranhas" and the "Swordfish" fought among themselves for the final victory.
The tournament was attended by the Olympic Champion with participation in 4 Olympic Games, former Captain of the National Team and Captain of the V.N.C. men's water polo team, Christos Afroudakis, who made the awards at the end, after all the children who participated received a commemorative trophy for their participation.
The children were very excited about their participation, expressing their desire for similar events to take place in the future.
