Second in the world, the National Women's Junior National Team-MVP and Xenaki is the top scorer of the event

The National Junior Women's Water Polo team failed to become the world champions, as they lost 17-16 on penalties to Russia (9-9 in regulation), in the final of the event held in Volos.

In a thrilling match in the packed swimming pool of Volos, the girls of our national team fought for the top of the world but were unlucky in the soul-crushing penalty shootout.

Elena Xenaki, Elli Protopapa, Iphigenia Mavrota, Ioanna Chydirioti, Mariolena Seletopoulou and Maria Patra were the athletes who represented the Vouliagmeni Yacht Club and together with the rest of the girls of the national team led Greece to the second step of the Vathros.

But another very big distinction came for the Greek colours. The athlete of our group Elena Xenaki was the best player and the top scorer of the event with 22 goals.

The Vouliagmeni Yacht Club congratulates all the athletes and the coaching team of the national team as well as all those who contributed to this huge success for Greek sport.
