Emergency update from the V.N.C. regarding the new coronavirus Covid-2019

Dear Parents & Athletes,

At the Vouliagmeni Nautical Club, we are closely monitoring the developments and measures being taken to protect public health in the context of the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak. We have all read the Joint Ministerial Decree of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education regarding the suspension of the operation of all educational units in the country for the protection of public health.

So far, we have not received any official directive from the National Organization for Sports or the General Secretariat of Sports that respectively stipulates the suspension of the operation of sports clubs and training sessions. In this context, all training sessions in the sports practiced by the V.N.C. at its facilities as well as at the swimming pool of the Evelpidon School, continue as normal.

According to the directive of the Greek Swimming Federation (https://koe.org.gr/article/anastoli-drastiriotitas-sta-atomika-athlimata-mas), all competitive activities in the sports of swimming, technical swimming and artistic swimming throughout Greece are suspended until March 22, 2020. For the sport of water polo, the matches will take place normally without spectators.

In accordance with the above, and with absolute awareness of the sense of responsibility that NOV has towards its athletes, we apply the following:

1. 1. Holding the swimming pool competitions of the V.N.C. behind closed doors.
   2. Increase water sampling of the swimming pool to strictly ensure water quality to 2 times a week.
   3. Suspension of operation of the V.N.C. Indoor Gym.
   4. Regular disinfection of closed areas of the V.N.C. and Biological Sciences with a specialized external partner and use of products containing effective antimicrobial agents according to the instructions of the Hellenic National Organization for the Prevention of Diseases.
   5. Intensification of the strictness of the cleanliness of the V.N.C. premises.
   6. Athletes are advised to avoid using the locker rooms or limit their use to the shortest possible time and for absolutely necessary purposes. It is advisable for athletes to shower at home during this period of the virus outbreak.
   7. Prohibition of drinking water directly from the cooler – recommendation to use reusable bottles or glasses.
   8.    9. Regularly inform V.N.C. stakeholders regarding developments.
