At the Vouliagmeni Nautical Club, we believe that a normal weight is a necessary condition for athletic performance. Furthermore, maintaining a normal weight is also a key element for a life full of health and happiness. Moreover, within this context, during the athletic year we implement educational sessions with our athletes on healthy nutrition and its importance. In addition, since last year we started the series of events “Wellness in the Club” where Members and parents of our athletes had the opportunity to be informed by scientific nutritionists and doctors regarding the topic of nutrition in a comprehensive manner.

Obesity is a complex problem and certainly not an individual choice. It is not a problem of lack of will or restraint, since its roots are clearly deeper. Obesity is influenced by different factors: genetic, hormonal, psychological and environmental (such as unhealthy diet, stress, sedentary lifestyle, etc.). It is estimated that obesity affects more than 650 million people worldwide. However, there are still many knowledge gaps regarding the reasons for its occurrence and ways to deal with it.

Today, March 4th, is World Obesity Day and we are sharing with you advice from the National Public Health Organization and the Panhellenic Association of Dietitians and Nutritionists.
