World Championship honors!

The World Windsurfing Championships were held in Quiberon, France, from 29/7 to 5/8.

Our coach Alexandros Giakas, along with five athletes from the windsurfing department, found themselves in Brittany, France, where, although our team was excellently prepared, the water sport had several peculiarities, with strong currents and tides every 6 hours, as well as very low temperatures with high humidity and lots of rain.

The V.N.C athletes had limited time to train and acclimatize to the foreign base.

Nevertheless, they excelled!

The championship featured 10 races in the U17 boys, U17 girls, U15 girls, U13 boys and girls categories, while 11 races were held in the U19+ boys and girls categories and the U15 boys category.

Our athletes completed the competitions with the following positions:

  • In 2nd place in the U17 boys category the Minas Koutelas,
  • in 2nd place in the U17 girls category the Danae Anagnostou,
  • in 6th place in the U17 girls category Nefeli Anagnostou,
  • in 4th place in the U13 boys category Orestis Palamidis and finally,
  • Jason Kandiloros in 10th place in the U19+ boys category.

Their coaches, Kostas Moutsatsos and Alexandros Giakas, were completely satisfied and proud of the ethos, sportsmanship and results of their athletes.

Our warmest congratulations are due for these significant successes, both to our athletes and coaches!
