The Vouliagmeni Nautical Club aims to develop aquatic sports, embracing the athlete completely from a young age, and supporting him until he reaches the highest competitive level.
It is extremely important to develop psychological skills simultaneously with physical skills in athletic developmentOtherwise, an "inequality" is observed, which can be a source of "problems" at older athletic ages, since the athlete is often unable to respond emotionally and effectively handle what he can perform biologically.
In this context, from next month, The Vouliagmeni Nautical Club implements a Sports Psychology program with a specialized scientific partner for all athletes of the Water Polo Department., through which systematic meetings will be held.
The goals of the program are multiple and extremely important. Our athletes will receive training, practice and work on sports psychological skills. The children through group meetings which will primarily aim exclusively at εκπαίδευσή their sports psychological skills,
- their sports psychological skills,
- for mental training,
- on how they will manage to increase their levels of concentration and attention
- for correct target setting,
- for developing their self-confidence,
- to increase internal motivation,
- as well as the athlete's psychological preparation to face the demands of a competition.
At the end of each month, parents are scheduled to be informed about the topics and goals that our athletes have been training towards. At the same time, in collaboration with the coaches and parents, seminars will be held on this specific topic.
The first meeting to get to know the Scientific Manager - collaborator of our Group's Sports Psychology program, Ms. Patsou, for the presentation and goals of the program, will take place on Wednesday, February 16th at the N.O.B. Hall, at the following times depending on the age categories:
Time 18:30 Mini Boys / Mini Girls / Girls
Time 20:00 Children / Youth / Teenagers
Attention: entry is only allowed to those who are vaccinated and hold a 3-month disease certificate.
The meeting will also be held online for those unable to attend.
Short Biography of Ms. Patsou
Froso Patsou is a Psychologist, a graduate of Panteion University and a holder of a postgraduate degree in Sports Psychology. She has completed a four-year counseling program and has specialized in the cognitive-synthetic counseling process. She also holds a degree from the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the University of Athens. She is a PhD holder from Panteion University from the Department of Psychology.
She has done an internship at the Community Mental Health Center in Vyronas. Since 2008, she has been a scientific associate of the National Athletics Team. From 2017-2019, she was a Scientific Associate of the AEK Football Academies and scientifically responsible for the Sports Psychology program at the "New Generation Ziridis" Schools for the classes with students on sports scholarships.
She has collaborations with athletes in both individual and team sports, while at the same time she has educational work in public and private I.E.K.s, in Colleges, in Adult Education Centers and in Lifelong Learning structures. Her research work is quite important with presentations at international conferences and publications in scientific journals.
She was one of the top track and field athletes in our country, having achieved numerous athletic successes as a track and field champion in the 100m with a personal record of 11.31 in 2001. Some of her most important athletic successes are 4th place in the European Youth Games in the 100m in 1994 in Norway, 6th place in the World Championships in Edmonton, Canada in 2001 with the 4*100m relay and the two bronze medals at the Mediterranean Games in Tunisia in the same year. Highlights of her career were her participation in the Olympic Games in 2000 in Australia and in 2004 in Athens and her ranking in 13th place. She is a national record holder with numerous medals in the 100 and 200m. at national championships. She was a member of the National Track and Field Team from 1989 until 2006, when she ended her athletic career.
