The Technical Swimming athlete of our Club, Philippos Iakovidis, brought the first gold of the National Team, participating in the European Youth Championships, held in Belgrade!
Philip led the way in the 200m double sculls final with a time of 1:38.37. In the same event, another Greek athlete, Th. Parastatidis, won one of the two silver medals for the Greek delegation in tonight's finals.
Following his huge success, Philip said: “The emotions I'm feeling right now are indescribable. Just the sound of our national anthem gives me goosebumps. The pride of lifting your country to the top of Europe is something that will be etched in my soul forever. The result came through hard training, in and out of the pool. I would like to thank first of all my coach who supported me during the whole preparation and I would like to dedicate this medal to him with all my heart. Finally, I would like to thank my family for being there for me all this time”.
Congratulations to our athlete!
